What the Business Central connection actually does
One direction, on purpose. Business Central stays the system of record and FSN reads from it — nothing in your ledger is touched by the sync.
- OAuth2 client credentials against Microsoft Entra — register an app, grant it app_access, paste four ids. Nothing is installed inside Business Central.
- Reads BC’s standard API v2.0: items with their variants and categories, item ledger entries for stock, released sales orders, posted sales invoices with their PDF.
- Drafts stay invisible. Only released orders and posted invoices cross, and a re-run of an already-imported document is skipped rather than duplicated.
- FSN registers the BC webhook subscriptions itself and renews them twice a day, because BC expires them after about three days. There is nothing to paste into BC.

Do we have to leave Business Central or change our workflows?
No. Business Central stays your system of record, and the connection only reads from it. Your team keeps releasing orders and posting invoices exactly as they do now; FSN picks them up from there.
Does FSN write anything back into Business Central?
Not today. The connector is read-only by design: items, stock, released orders, posted invoices and posted shipments all travel from BC into FSN. Fulfilment status and tracking live in FSN, and the adapter already carries the write-back path for the day we turn it on.
Business Central or Finance & Operations?
Business Central. Everything here targets BC’s standard API v2.0. Finance & Operations is a different API surface and would be a separate connector.
What permissions does the app registration need?
In Microsoft Entra: Dynamics 365 Business Central → Application permissions → app_access (or Financials.ReadWrite.All), granted admin consent, then registered once inside BC itself. You paste the AAD tenant id, environment, company id and client id; the secret is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
Is FSN affiliated with Microsoft?
No. FSN is an independent fulfilment network. We integrate through Business Central’s own published API, the way any third-party integration does.
What does it cost?
Merchants pay a flat $49 per month — no per-order fee, no setup cost. Warehouses, fulfilment partners and suppliers use the network for free.
Who sees our data?
A partner sees what the job needs and nothing else. Customer data stays on your side; FSN keeps the mappings, routing rules and audit trail — not a copy of your operational history.
